Summary/Abstract: The objective of the present study is to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of affairs pertaining to the establishment of music and music therapy activities within the domain of child and adolescent psychiatry in Slovakia. The starting points are theoretical segments that, based on the arrangement, represent the initial steps towards establishing music therapy activities in the given field. Concurrently, the text fulfils the function of theoretical pre-understanding of the issue and setting up further practical procedures. Following a thorough analysis of the current state and opportunities of child psychiatry in Slovakia, it was determined that four areas are necessary for a clear, systematic introduction of music therapy into complex, multidisciplinary care. The given areas are: institutions, interdisciplinarity, indications, and interventions. Theoretical prerequisites for a successful application are also a necessary part of the legislative definition of the music therapy profession. In light of the dearth of professional anchoring of the music therapy profession in Slovakia, the distribution of activities within the multidisciplinary team is delineated in the text. The proposed theoretical areas of research for the comprehensive implementation of music therapy have been expanded to include education, ethics/legislation, and research, necessary for comprehensive adaptation (institutions, interdisciplinarity, indications, and interventions).
