Summary/Abstract: This article offers a comprehensive examination of calque (loan-translation) phenomena and their influence on the Romanian language. Combining theoretical perspectives with historical and contemporary examples, the paper surveys the mechanisms of calquing, identifies major source languages (Slavic, French, and English), and evaluates sociolinguistic drivers and consequences. The analysis spans semantic, morphological, and syntactic calques, concluding with reflections on current digital-age dynamics and directions for future research.
