Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the journalistic texts and dramatic works of Jozef Wybicki, which testify to the involvement of the writer-lawyer in efforts to codify the law during the reign of Stanislaw August Poniatowski. The author drew attention to the connection, present in the analyzed statements, between economic issues and the struggle for the restoration of the rights of the bourgeoisie. Of particular interest was the role played by Wybicki in the discussion of the need for reform. The statements discussed in the article were set against the background of the socio-political history of the end of the Noble Republic.
