Summary/Abstract: Law enforcement officers operate in high-stakes, information-poor environments where rapid judgments aboutintent, risk, and credibility can shape safety outcomes. This article integrates two behavioral science domains—Dark Triadpersonality research and structured analysis of nonverbal/body language cues—to propose an evidence-informed frameworkfor enhancing officer situational awareness and decision support. We review empirical foundations, clarify common myths, andtranslate validated constructs into operational risk modifiers rather than diagnostic labels. We outline an integrated behavioral–tactical model linking interpersonal patterns and dynamic physical cues to graded officer safety responses, and address ethical, legal, and data-governance considerations. Guidance for research, training, and implementation evaluation is provided to helpagencies leverage behavioral science while minimizing bias and liability.
