Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to systematic study of national literature through the prism of speech genres, which formed the canon of new Ukrainian fiction in the conditions of bilingualism, cultural hybridization, and cross-linguistic codes. Using the perspective of postcolonial criticism, the study shows the fruitfulness of concepts like counter-discourse, Ukrainian-Russian intertextuality, rhetorical strategies, and anti-colonial intentions in the interpretation of the literature of post-imperial Ukraine. The national narrative is seen as a special newspeak. This allows a thorough analysis of the entire palette of complex interlinguistic and intercultural connections.
