Summary/Abstract: The study analyzes a 2015 minor offense case in Pécs, in which a long-serving police officer was suspected of puncturingtwo tires of a taxi driver’s car. The peculiarity of the case lies in the contradictions between witness testimonies and evidence, whichcast doubt on the soundness of the court’s decision. The aim of the study is to explore the legal aspects of the minor criminal offenseproceedings, with particular emphasis on the credibility of witness testimonies, the weighing of evidence, and the legal issuesarising during the appeal process. The case highlights that even minor offense cases must be handled with the same care as moreserious criminal cases. Courts must ensure that the reliability of evidence and witness testimonies is thoroughly assessed, especiallywhen they are contradictory or insufficient to clearly support the defendant’s guilt.
