Summary/Abstract: The article presents Slavisms from M. Petkevičius‘ Catechism (1598), borrowed from Ruthenian or Old Russian. The origin of these borrowings has been determined on the basis of several criteria. Typically, the exact origin of a Slavism can be determined when a possible source of the borrowing is attested in only one Slavic language (only Polish or only Ruthenian, Old Russian) (the criterion of source). Another informative criterion comprises various phonological processes in the Slavic languages and the Lithuanian language. The article also presents possible equivalents of loanwords in donor languages.
