Summary/Abstract: The study examines the issue of preserving and transmitting traditions and folk culture within a community through the presentation of a specific life path. At its centre is a married couple whose work spanning sev- eral decades has played a significant role in shaping the cultural life of the local community, as well as in the living transmission of traditions. The aim of the study is to explore how informal learning is realized through tradition-preserv- ing activities and how everyday practice becomes one of the most important arenas of knowledge transmission. – The study also argues that transmission of traditions cannot take place exclusively within institutional frameworks. The theoretical framework of the paper is based on the principle of enculturation, which describes how individuals become carriers of the norms, customs, and value systems of a community. This process is examined through the example of the Szuhanko couple, as their life story clearly demonstrates how one can become a natural transmitter of traditions, not merely through conscious decision-making, but through inner conviction and lived practice.
