Summary/Abstract: The study examines several characteristic folk customs of the Christmas festive cycle in the settlements of Doline and Trešnjevac in Vojvodina. The aim of the research is to demonstrate how traditional Christmas customs – such as the Nativity play, carol singing, and the rituals associated with festive meals and family gatherings – continue to exist in the collective memory and contemporary practice of local communities. The paper primarily relies on qualitative methods, including interviews conducted during fieldwork and local recollections. The analysis reveals the earlier forms of these customs, their transformations over time, and the social and cultural factors that have influenced the preservation or transformation of these traditions. The study shows that although traditional community frameworks have changed in many respects, Christmas customs still play an important identity-forming and community-building role in the life of the two settlements. The paper contributes to the documentation and interpretation of Hungarian folk traditions in Vojvodina and highlights the importance of preserving local cultural heritage.
