Besieged Sarajevo in Belgrade: Interpretation of dissonant heritage in the case of transport of exhibition of the History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in UK ,,Parabrod“ in Belgrade

Summary/Abstract: The paper covers interpretation of dissonant heritage exemplified by the transport of permanent exhibition from the collection of the History Museum of BiH from Sarajevo to Belgrade. The interpretation of dissonant or controversial heritage includes several layers of reading the Belgrade exhibition of Opkoljeno Sarajevo (Besieged Sarajevo). The first layer is based on reading the primary narrative of the exhibition in Ustanova kulture “Parobrod”, followed by the exhibition reading in the context the exhibition transport from Sarajevo to Belgrade, posing the question of relationship between the two cities. Translocation of heritage of one city into another provides the opportunity to observe the Besieged Sarajevo as a joint heritage of the two cities, created during the traumatic events following the disintegration of Yugoslavia. The Besieged Sarajevo exhibition functions as a palimpsest and open space of memories suitable for attributing different meanings.
