Summary/Abstract: More than twenty years after the end of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina public discourse became full of more evident and more intensive conflicts of memories. As the best evidence for that are the monuments dedicated mostly to war events of recent history, and some from the older history as well, which are today drawing the attention, triggering debates, and are the reason of many political conflicts and national disagreements. Search for the question what are today’s practices of remembrance, and a wish to discuss and encourage critical attitude to the monuments resulted with this work in which monuments from the WWII and war in 90-this serve as examples, cases in which all the complexity of phenomenon of collective culture of remembrance in Bosnia and Herzegovina is reflected. Besides its role to analyze the content, messages and symbols of those monuments, its interpretation through established practice of official remembrance policy, this work also strives to lead on thinking about possible alternatives of approaches to collective memory through “work” with monuments, its critical observation and learning about past.
