Summary/Abstract: The regional alliance of Visegrad Group was established in 1991 and after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993 it was renamed and aimed at fostering accession to EU and NATO to the four constitutive countries, namely the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. Consequently, other areas such as commerce, regional development, education and cooperation in foreign policy were all added to the agenda. Once the original goals were fulfilled in 2004, their co-operation expanded to two new areas - EU enlargement to the Balkans and energy policy. The paper below examines the co-operation process within the Visegrad Group countries and identifies potential new ways of future collaboration in this region.
