Music education deficiencies in the pedagogical and therapeutic space. Recommendations for new therapists

Summary/Abstract: This article was written based on the author's own experience as a juror at festivals promoting the artistic creativity of people with special educational needs. The author analyzes situations that indicate the shortcomings of music education, visible in many pedagogical therapeutic activities. The article is a compilation of proposals of musical pieces included in the specialist literature. The reflections included in it should encourage (especially novice therapists) to carefully select their musical repertoire. The proposed musical pieces, from the field of artistic music, should constitute the basic workshop of a pedagogical therapist. The author also presents the unpublished results of research carried out as part of the international project Europa in Takt.
