Summary/Abstract: Mental and imagery training has become an integral part of professional dance training and practice. This article explores the use of mental training techniques, including guided imagery, visualisation and cognitive-behavioural strategies, to enhance dancers' performance, confidence and mental resilience. Drawing on current research in sport psychology and dance science, the article highlights how mental rehearsal can improve motor skills, reduce performance anxiety and aid in injury prevention and recovery. Results from a study of dancers suggest that integrating mental training into dance practice can lead to significant improvements in artistic expression, technical performance and overall wellbeing. The article concludes with practical recommendations for dancers, teachers and choreographers who wish to integrate mental and imaginal training into their daily routine.
