Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes the legal norm of "eminent jurist" as a specific requirement for the election of Constitutional Court judges. It presents the advantages and disadvantages of the precise definition of this term in the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia and the "spirit of the law" that accompanies this vague formulation. The author formulates his own opinion on who an eminent jurist truly is and what specific character traits and competencies he or she should possess, comparing them with the Roman ideal of republican virtue, L. K. Cincinnatus. He also analyzes other constitutional provisions related to this requirement for the Constitutional Court of Serbia and draws de lege ferenda conclusions.
