Summary/Abstract: Over the past several years, while maintaining previously paid family benefits, a system of tax relief and a mechanism for granting mortgages has been developed, whose primary task was to support families deciding to have (another) child. This article reviews the most important solutions that have been implemented, attempts to answer the question of whether this policy has had measurable effects, and suggests further actions that the Hungarian state might take.
