Summary/Abstract: This year’s anniversary of the Centenary of the Romanian Patriarchate gives us the opportunity to present two versions of the coat of arms designed by Dionisie Pecurariu in 1926 for this higher administrative unit of the Romanian Orthodox Church. The Romanian Patriarchate, established in 1925, needed a coat of arms to distinguish itself. Both versions of the Romanian Patriarchate’s coat of arms, designed by Dionisie Pecurariu, are highly evocative, but they remained only drafts. The coat of arms of the Romanian Patriarchate was created with the help of Patriarch Miron Cristea, who initiated the project approved by the Heraldic Advisory Commission for the coat of arms of the Romanian Patriarchate, a heraldic symbol created in 1928 by this commission.
