Summary/Abstract: The article examines the right of self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter in the context of the general prohibition on the use of force under Article 2(4), analyzing the tension between these two provisions and their limitations. The author reveals how the so-called "Great Powers" broadly interpret Article 51 to justify preventive military actions and interventions against non-state actors, thereby undermining the fundamental principles of international law. As a solution, the article proposes a strict interpretation of the UN Charter's provisions and the immediate codification of international law, in order to ensure equality among all states and sustainable international peace.
