Summary/Abstract: For centuries, meşk has served as the primary method of transmission in Turkish music education. Based on oral and practical interaction, it represents not only a teaching technique but also an educational approach that ensures cultural continuity. Although musical notation was later incorporated into this tradition, its widespread use in modern education has prompted renewed discussion on the role of meşk. This study examines the function of the meşk method in contemporary amateur Turkish music choirs and explores the pedagogical implications of combining meşk with notation-based instruction. The research is based on a literature review and evaluated through existing scholarly perspectives. The findings suggest that meşk plays a crucial role in developing stylistic awareness, performance manner, musical memory, and ensemble cohesion. When integrated with notation-based teaching, it contributes to a more effective and balanced learning process. Furthermore, the study concludes that the use of contemporary technologies, such as digital supplements added to musical notation, may support the preservation and transmission of stylistic and interpretative elements in performance.
