Summary/Abstract: The village of Tavnik is located about 18 km northwest of Kraljevo, in the north-eastern part of the Čačak–Kraljevo Valley, in central Serbia. The Voljavča Monastery, also known as the Svetinja Voljavča, belongs to the Diocese of Žiča of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and is located in the hamlet of the same name in the village of Tavnik. The monastery complex consists of a log church dedicated to Saint Procopius (Fig. 1), a newer brick church dedicated to the Venerable Mother Paraskeva, a monastery dormitory, and a monastic cemetery. It is located on the Crkvena kosa Hill (276 m), whose gentle slopes descend to the north, west and south, towards the banks of the Bumbaruša Creek and Voljavča River, while on the eastern side the terrain gradually rises to the top of the hill (355 m), which is one of the north-western branches of the Kotlenik Mountain. In the south-western corner of the porch of the log church of Saint Procopius, there is a partially preserved tombstone with an inscription. It is a type of a medieval tombstone with a flat upper surface and an elongated rectangular shape, with widely chamfer side edges. On the flat upper surface a symbol in the form of a large inverted Latin letter S is carved. Between the left edge of the tombstone and the aforementioned symbol, there is a partially preserved inscription in Cyrillic script in the Serbian Slavonic language, which testifies to the death of a certain Vukašin, whose surname was most likely Zecić (Zečić). Based on the shape of the carved letters, as well as the typological characteristics of the tombstone, Vukašin’s epitaph is dated to the period between 1430 and 1480 AD.
