Summary/Abstract: The first scientific views on the semantics (semantics) of Azerbaijani Turkish were in the creativity of the famous Turkologist Bakir Chobanzadeh. B. Chobanzadeh, who studied the vocabulary of Turkish, based on the idea that “the meaning of the word changes with the disappearance of the thing, the state it indicates”, attributed the changes in the meaning of words to “psychological, spiritual, mental faculties and characteristics” and recorded three important points in the development of meaning: a) change of meaning; b) expansion of meaning; c) narrowing of meaning. The scientist, who also attributed the changes in meaning to “the changes of daily life and civilization”, mentioned the three methods of semantic development in his book “Turkish Language” as change of meaning, narrowing of meaning and widening of meaning, and in his “Turkish Grammar” as expansion of meaning, narrowing of meaning and transition of meaning. In his work “İntroduction to Turkish Tatar Language” the author explained the transfer of meaning in terms of semantic change, and in “Turkish Grammar” he explained it in terms of semantic transfer, that is, in terms of the phenomenon of polysemy.
