Summary/Abstract: The purposes of this study are to assess the efficiency of the cohesion of national education statistics and the gender equality index in earthquake zone provinces (Adana, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Şanlıurfa), and to test the diagnostic performance of input and output variables in determining the efficiency status of earthquake zone provinces. For these purposes, the study has a two-stage analysis design. In the first stage, the Input Orientation Slack-Based Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model was employed using three input variables (Number of Schools per Student, Number of Teachers per Student and Number of Classrooms per Student) and one output variable (Gender Equality Index). In the second stage, the ROC Analysis was conducted for the diagnostic performance of input and output variables in determining the Efficiency Status of earthquake zone provinces. The dataset belongs to 2025 or the nearest year, and it is gathered from the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of National Education and TÜİK. While the first stage of analysis design was carried out using the deaR package in the R project, the second stage was carried out using Inonu University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics, Diagnostic Tests and ROC Analysis Software. According to the first stage of analysis design, it was determined that 3 out of 10 earthquake zone provinces are efficient (Adana, Osmaniye and Malatya), while the remaining seven provinces (Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis and Şanlıurfa) were found to be inefficient. Besides, all three efficient earthquake zone provinces rank first, while Gaziantep ranks last among the ten earthquake zone provinces. According to the second stage of analysis design, it was determined that i2: Number of Teachers per Student and i3: Number of Classrooms per Student input variables, and o1: Gender Equality Index output variable could distinguish the Efficiency Status with the cutoff points (16.117), (29.087), and (1.043), respectively. As the cohesion of national education statistics and the gender equality index efficiency of earthquake zone provinces remains largely unexplored in the existing literature, this study stands out by incorporating the Slack-Based Measure and ROC Analysis to fill this research gap.
