Summary/Abstract: In this essay, we try to present the book of literary historian Miodrag Popović Bonik cetinjski, in which the works of Petar Petrović Njegoš are introduced through a synthetic interpretation. The dominant characteristics of Popović’s scientific approach and the main processes of his analytical and critical paths are clarified. In the center of his attention is Njegoš’s literary work seen through the three different forms of poetic expression: love, cosmic and heroic poetry. Popović profoundly analyzes the morphology of Njegoš’s works, paying the particular attention to their archetypal patterns, cultural models, genre diversities and poetic markers. Through the constant efforts to fathom the complex structure of the artistic frames of the great poet, Popović poignantly notices multiple aspects of transformations, intersections and pervasions of different layers his work is based on. Miodrag Popović points out that Petar Petrović Njegoš is the artist of unsurpassed gift of sublimation. The other aspects that the author includes in the analysis of the poet’s work are also discussed: biographical moments, historical factors, genesis of artistic growth and the main aesthetic and philosophical hyphotesis of Njegoš’s poetic originallity.
