Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the book Njegoš’s poetry by Milo Lompar, where the author collected and concluded several decades of his work on the poetic opus of the greatest Serbian poet. Lompar tried to cover the entire Njegoš’s opus so, in addition to three great poems – The Mountain Wreath, The Ray of Microcosm and The False Emperor Šćepan The Little – he interpreted in detail the most important lyrical poems. Lompar approaches Njegoš’s work holistically, analyzing mutual relationships and the internal self-development of basic ideas and meanings in his opus. This approach led the author to build a coherent and closed hermeneutical system, based in the key concepts of Njegoš’s poetics and philosophy seen in different thematic and ideational contexts, depending on the work analyzed. Lompar interprets Njegoš’s work in the context of the history of ideas so his approach is more philosophical than literary-theoretical. Although every more important attitude and conclusion in his interpretations is based on a relevant source, Lompar embeds a distinct personal view. It can be generally said that Lompar’s contribution to negosology is not in collecting and systematizing his valuable knowledge in this field, but in putting them in a new context which constantly requires an additional step in the interpretation of what seems to be already interpreted.
