DIRECTIONS OF ENERGY SYSTEM TRANSFORMATION IN METROPOLIS GZM

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to demonstrate possible directions for energy transformation in the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolitan Area (GZM, Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolia) through the prism of the primary fuel (energy) used, as well as methods of energy (electricity and heat) management. Selected nationwide plans and strategies on energy transition issues and literature on the subject were analyzed. The analysis of the source materials showed that there are relevant expert reports within the GZM, the use of specific energy sources. Moreover, new forms of electricity and heat management – energy clusters, or energy cooperatives – are beginning to emerge in the GZM area. The first elements of hydrogen energy – hydrogen-fueled buses – are being used in the GZM.
