Summary/Abstract: Human reason and the reasons of things are testimonies for the presence in the whole creation of the divine Logos, for „all things through Him were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1,3). The rationality of creation is a vast and well-established topic in the patristic literature. This paper offers a study on the rationality of creation using as main sources the Holy Scripture and reference works, especially from the writings of the Holy Three Hierarchs and Saint Maximus the Confessor. The harmony and rationality of creation are often illustrated in the context of natural sciences. But the harmony of creation goes beyond the realm of classical natural sciences. This paper offers general considerations regarding the rationality of creation and focuses on scientific research in the field of Computer Science. We investigate concepts introduced in the Computer Science area in the light of the teaching about the five reasons of creation from the work of Saint Maximus the Confessor. Computer science, science, and technology in general must be used in full agreement with the commandments of God, because science and technology could not exist if creation were not rational. The rationality of creation is a great gift made by God to man and a proof that the whole existence is the creation of a rational Being, the creation of God.
