Summary/Abstract: Ádám Balogh’s study explores the dramaturgy of memory through reenactment at work in Milo Rau’s 2016 performance Five Easy Pieces. Drawing on Jan Assmann’s concepts of communicative and cultural memory, the article examines the tension between the presentness of testimony and its historical framing. The analysis focuses on two key scenes following how the issues of authenticity, participation, and the right to speak become questions of staging. Consequently, Five Easy Pieces does not simply convey memories, but tests the conditions of expressibility and authenticity: through what signs, what protocols, and what bodies does trauma become expressible and legible?
