Summary/Abstract: In this essay, Milo Rau plays with the idea of what would happen if we returned to the original function of theatre: theatre as a place of truth. Theatre is a space of real-time presence, of pure existence, from which we cannot hide once we step onto the stage. The stage reminds us that everything we have – our bodies, our language, our history – is enough, and therein lies the true power of theatre.
