Summary/Abstract: This study examines the Trinitarian foundation of ecclesial communion in Jean-Marie Roger Tillard’s eucharistic ecclesiology. Drawing on patristic sources and biblical texts, Tillard understands the Church as a „sacrament of Trinitarian communion in salvation history,” in which the divine perichoresis serves as the model for ecclesial relationships. The analysis explores three key aspects of Tillard’s Trinitarian vision: unity-in-diversity, relational reciprocity, and kenotic service. Particular attention is given to how this Trinitarian paradigm reshapes the relationship between local and universal Church through his concept of „mutual inclusion.” The study further investigates the Eucharist as the privileged locus where Trinitarian communion becomes accessible to the ecclesial community, highlighting its Christological, pneumatological, and doxological dimensions. Tillard’s approach is critically evaluated, noting tensions between ontology and history, and examining significant convergences with Orthodox theology. The paper concludes that Tillard’s Trinitarian ecclesiology offers valuable resources for overcoming ecclesiastical impasses in contemporary ecumenical dialogue, particularly between Catholic and Orthodox traditions.
