Summary/Abstract: This article addresses a very current and widespread issue in the society we live in: the root of all passions – acedia. Due to this state of soul, many sins and passions arise related to digital technologies and the technical environment in which people live today. Through this article, I aim to provide the reader with a brief synthesis of what lies behind mobile phone addiction, the real causes of „data smog,” „scrolling,” or „brain-rot,” to name just a few effects, but also causes of acedia in the digital age. The concern for this subject is of keen interest to other researchers in the field of theology and beyond; it is a theme that combines research from various fields such as neuroscience, medicine, psychology, but especially theology. I emphasize theology because what is perverted by this state is precisely the purpose and meaning of life, namely the union with God through a communion of love with the Holy Trinity, and acedia in any era causes a person to distance themselves from God and to live an existential torment. We will discover remedies, doctors, that cannot expire and which are just as relevant now as they were in the fourth century and will always remain valid.
