Summary/Abstract: The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church decided that the year 2023 would also be the “Commemorative year of hymnographers and church singers” in the Romanian Patriarchate. This reason led us to remember not only the church singers but also the conductors and composers of religious music who dedicated their whole lives to fulfilling this desire. Antoniu Albin Sequens was the most representative figure of theological musical education but also the conductor of the most important choral formations in Caransebeș at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. A prolific composer, he wrote, in addition to the five Liturgies intended for the male or mixed church choir, many religious and secular songs, music for voice and piano, as well as instrumental music. An exquisite pianist, he remained in the memory of many of the citizens of Caransebeș.
