Summary/Abstract: This study summarizes my results in toponymic collection to date and draws general conclusions from the sociolinguistic investigations of place names (toponym-sociology). The objective of the research was to collect the place names of selected Slovak–Hungarian bilingual settlements and to examine the toponymic knowledge of the local population. The research sites—Körtvélyes (Hrušov), Szádalmás (Jablonov nad Turňou), and Tornagörgő (Hrhov)—are located in the Rožňava District along the Slovak–Hungarian border. The output of the collection for each settlement consists of a database, a dictionary of place names, and an online map. The dictionary includes the comprehensive toponymic stock of each village, compiled through historical archival research and fieldwork. For the sociolinguistic analysis, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 5–10% of the population. The sample was selected using quota sampling based on age and gender. The analysis of name usage and knowledge was carried out according to various criteria, focusing on the influence of both linguistic and extra-linguistic factors.
