The Evolution and Structure of the Obituary Over Time in the Work of Father Professor Dumitru Belu

Summary/Abstract: In this article, I brought back to the attention of our fellow servants the systematic teachings and methodical principles formulated by Rev. Prof. Dumitru Belu in his study devoted to the obituary, so that it would be of real use in their preaching activity. The author considers the obituary as the cultic act closely related to the performance of the funeral service. Therefore, he recommends that the preaching priests should pay special attention to such a speech. That study remains normative for this homiletic genre in the entire specialized literature.
