Summary/Abstract: Dr Gojko Grđić was one of the most prominent Serbian and Yugoslav economists and statisticians. At the end of 1930s he cooperated extensively with the Serbian Cultural Club and was one of the most active economic analysts in its magazine Srpski glas (Serbian voice). After the establishment of the occupation regime in the territory of Serbia, led by professional and patriotic motives, he accepted to participate in the collaborationist government and became the Head of the Commissariat for Prices and Wages. Trying to carry out his duties in accordance with professional and moral principles, he came into conflict with the occupier, who, driven by their own interests, constantly intervened in the sphere of standardizing prices and wages, usually to the detriment of the population of the occupied Serbia. Being at the same time under the pressure of the occupying forces and pro-fascist movement Zbor, Dr Gojko Grđić decided to resign because he was not able to perform the function of the Commissioner in accordance with the law and the interests of citizens. His resignation, integrally published in this paper, is of great importance for understanding and studying of the phenomenon of collaboration in occupied Serbia 1941−1944, being a direct testimony about the motives of a part of Serbian collaborators for entering into cooperation with the occupier. Grđić’s act was not welcomed by the occupier – at the end of 1941, he was arrested by the Gestapo and spent some time in the Banjica camp. His attitude during the war was characterized as proper and patriotic by the post-war government, and Grđić reached the culmination of his impressive academic career precisely in the post-war decades.
