Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the emergence and development of Serbian Chetnik organization in Skopska Crna Gora (a mountain region north of Skopje) between 1904 and 1908. Serbian Chetnik organization in Skopska Crna Gora was formed in the spring of 1904, under the tutelage of Serbian revolutionary circles in Skopje and Belgrade. Efficient and functional formation of the illegal self-defense organization in several Serbian villages provided semi-autonomy, economic self-sufficiency, strong Serbian consciousness, and fighting spirit of the population, thus weakening the Bulgarian organizations. Serbian guerilla troops sent from Serbia between 1903 and 1907 actuality represented more moral support than real protection against attacks by the neighbouring Albanians as well as IMRO troops. Self-defence was entirely taken over by the local Serbian population. From 1905 until the end of 1907, Serbian Chetnik organization in Skopska Crna Gora managed to eliminate the serious threat of Albanian gangs and IMRO troops only by peasant armed forces, while troops sent from Serbia, in reality, represented only a command support.
