Summary/Abstract: Although voivode Miloš Belmužević was among the most distinguished Serbian nobles in the late 15th century Kingdom of Hungary, the sources about his life are scarce and fragmented, thus leaving a number of unresolved questions. One of them is a question related to his wounding in Silesia, when fighting in service of Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus, a merit rewarded by the king with the Sasvar estate, which Miloš Belmužević mentioned in his will written on September 8, 1500. In the first half of the 20th century, it was believed that it happened during the wars against Bohemia and Poland between 1468 and 1474. Later, it was discovered that in 1476/7 Miloš Belmužević was still in Ottoman service as a member of Christian sipahis, and that he probably moved to Hungary in 1480 or 1481, so it became obvious that the said incident took place during some local conflict in Silesia in the last years of Matthias Corvinus’s reign. It can be assumed that Miloš Belmužević was wounded during the Głogów War, which was fought between king Matthias Corvinus and his Silesian vassal, Johann II von Sagan, Duke of Głogów, in 1488. Knowing that a large, one thousand men strong unit of Serbian light cavalry fought in this conflict as a part of the Hungarian forces, a fact which for a long time remained obscure in the Serbian historiography, and taking into account the chronological information in Miloš Belmužević’s will, it can be concluded that the only conflict fought in the territory of Silesia in which voivode Miloš Belmužević could be wounded was the Głogów War.
