Summary/Abstract: Metal-processing sector has been one of development engines of B&H, with a high level of employment, well developed product range and good export results. Current situation is much more different and this sector is faced with many problems, internal and external. The purpose of this paper is to show the current situation in the sector in the Central B&H region, which used to be characterized by a high level of development and high level of concentration, together readiness of companies to be involved in metal-processing clusters. The research was part of a wider project conducted by the Regional Development Agency of the Central B&H region. The research was conducted through organization of group interviews and personal interviews with representative companies. The results show that the future of the sector is in development clusters, thanks to the potential of the sector and positive experience of developed countries. The companies have shown interest in development of clusters with expectations that clusters would improve competitiveness of companies, their relationships, better supply conditions and expansion to some other markets.
