Summary/Abstract: This paper represents the original version of the text, prepared for the press, in which Đorđe Genčić reminsces his conversation with King Aleksandar Obrenović on his wedding with Draga Mašin. Đorđe Genčić was known as one of the most prominent political persons of the epoch in which he lived and worked. Being a person of a strong character, an arduous supporter of the Obrenović family, King Milan’s intimate friend and a person of confidence to young Prince Aleksandar, he was some sort of a bond between the father and the son. As he found himself in such position, fulfilling the duty of the Minister of Internal Affairs as well, he certainly was at the source of different kinds of information. Among them were those originating from the Court and connected to the Court, which he received fast and at the right moment. Thus, it is not surprising that King Aleksandar first told Genčić about his intention and asked him to support and help him organize the wedding ceremony as soon as possible. Futhermore, King Aleksandar had asked for help in overcoming the numerous troubles he predicted the wedding would cause in the public of the country and abroad. Since this work deals with Genčić, a man who crossed a long and not easily surpassable path from one of the crucial people for the Obrenović Dynasty to their principal executors, it is interesting for the public and important for the historiography to collect as much data as possible, which, being integrated, could help overviewing the whole picture of that time. It would enable us as well to understand better the reasons that had made Genčić and other conspirators to opt for such a drastic and radical step with far-reaching consequences. Text with Genčić’s reminiscences is exceptionally interesting, colourful, impressible, and has high dramatic impuls. According to it, we can get a completely different picture of King Aleksandar Obrenović than the one prevailing in the historiography. The handwriting contains numerous less known facts, and completely unknown facts as well.
