Summary/Abstract: Main objective of this paper is to present some of prominent paradigms that shape today’s scene of qualitative methodology within social sciences. One of fundamental features of qualitative research is a plurality of perspectives that are at researcher’s disposal while carrying out a research project. In that context, we consider it important to recognize researcher’s position and role of “bricoleur”. This specific qualitative researcher’s role, as well as the contingency of research questions concerning social setting, implies an intense auto-reflection and self-understanding. Knowledge of different paradigms and application of the knowledge as a choice of certain conceptual options present, to a research study, an opportunity for assessing its objectivity and interpretative validity. However, in case of qualitative research, paradigmatic framework does not determine the choice of methods and techniques, because it is a flexible action, which accommodates to situational and pragmatic requirements.
