Summary/Abstract: This study aims to identify barriers perceived by Generation Z to establishing and running a business, with particular attention to gender differences. The study is set in a regional context. It presents the perspective of Generation Z operating in a peripheral region characterised by a high rate of human capital outmigration to larger cities. The research problem addressed the identification of factors (economic/organisational and psychosocial) that, from the perspective of Generation Z representatives in the Podlaskie region, hinder or prevent the creation and operation of their own businesses, taking into account the gender dimension. The results presented in this study constitute an unpublished fragment of a project conducted at the University of Lomza. The study presents results from a survey of 340 Generation Z respondents (students and graduates up to 3 years after completing their higher education) in the Podlaskie region (Bialystok, Lomza, and Suwalki subregions). The empirical section utilises a proprietary CAWI survey questionnaire.
