Summary/Abstract: This study examines the interplay between the biographies and iconographies of Jan Sarkander and St. John of Nepomuk in the early modern period, highlighting how they influence each other's appearance and veneration. The analysis reveals that a depiction in an altarpiece in Bratislava originally representing Sarkander was misidentified as St. John of Nepomuk due to contextual elements rather than explicit inscriptions. Furthermore, the study discusses how the pictorial compilations were shaped by the donators' or publishers' needs or the practicality.
