The text reviews the anthology “German Poets”, authored by Pencho Slaveykov and published as a part of the “Dialogue and Spirituality” series. It sheds light on the ideas that motivated the translations from German into Bulgarian, as well as on the contemporary scholarly perspective from which this endeavor has been historically reconstructed. An important place is given to the connection between some basic aspects of translation theory and the way in which the phenomenon of cultural transfer should be conceptualized.
