Summary/Abstract: The present paper brings to attention the first coins with a proper archaeological context documented at a Roman site, Pojejena, from Dacia (Romania), that by its location – on the Danube – and its historical background (2nd-4th) may reveal specific patterns of coin dynamics. Using a gradual analytic comparative method, various aspects of history, archaeology and coin circulation at the level of the archaeological unit (the porta praetoria) are seen versus the already known models of coin circulation at micro- and macro-regional level as well as the level of the entire Roman province of Dacia.
