Summary/Abstract: The article deals with international legal personality of the Holy See and the Vatican City State. It builds upon the theoretical approach developing upon the parallel existence of two subjects of international law, i.e., the Holy See and the Vatican City State. The Holy See and the Vatican City State are considered to be subjects of international law sui generis and to reach this conclusion, they are compared to the legal characteristics of other subjects of international law, mainly with states and international intergovernmental organizations. Conclusions state that development of the Holy See (but the Vatican City State too) towards international legal personality predetermined dynamic development of new categories of subjects of international law in the 20th and 21st century.
