Summary/Abstract: The family correspondence of the Cluj-based architect Lajos Pákei is only a small fraction of his legacy, extensive both in space and quantity, and only a small part of it can be directly linked to his person. Despite their small number, these written documents point to the main events of his life, and include references to his work, which enrich our knowledge regarding the former chief architect of Kolozsvár. Therefore, the research on his life must take into consideration these documents, and the information contained therein must be integrated in the larger picture we recall today, at 172 years from his birthday.
