Summary/Abstract: Andrea Tompa’s novel tells the story of a woman born during World War II. She was given by her mother, a Jewish doctor, to a Christian family. Because her real family disappears, the little girl is adopted, and she won’t find out where she really comes from until the age of 16. The theme of the Holocaust is closely linked in the work to that of memory and identity. By becoming an actress, the main character will be able to strengthen her identity through theater art. This paper examines the relationship between the concepts of identity, memory, femininity, and art.
