Digital publishing house, bookstore and library with Open Monograph Press

Summary/Abstract: The article aims to explore Open Monograph Press (OMP) as publishing system for publication, access and long-term digital storage of monographs and books collections in an electronic environment. Practical applications of the software for a modern electronic publishing house are presented – submission of drafts, editorial processing, layout and publication of the final electronic product. The main features of the system are discussed, including possible use for a commercial bookstore. Ideas are shown for use as a modern digital library, storing and enriched media formats – hyperlinks, video, structured data sets and others. Several case studies of practical application of OMP have been investigated. The experience of Heidelberg University Publishing - Germany, National Documentation Center of Greece, Salamanca University Publishing – Spain, etc. is also shown.
