Summary/Abstract: Divorce involves a series of changes that may act as significant stressors. One of the most relevant changes concerns child-rearing, where limited involvement of one parent may constitute a major source of individual and parental stress. Coparenting implies the construction of new relational bonds focused on children’s well-being. The aim of this study was to explore the psychometric properties of the CARE scale and to compare results according to sociodemographic characteristics in a Chilean population. A sample of 260 separated or divorced parents was considered. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted. The results showed adequate goodness-of-fit indices, supporting the validity of the instrument for application in the Chilean context, particularly in psychosocial and family intervention settings.
