Łemkowszczyzna - odkrywana "Wyspa Bezludna"
The Lemko Region - the discovered "Desert Island"

Summary/Abstract: The main aim of the article is analyzing nowadays texts connected with the Lemko Region. Interpretation of various artistic works (eg. lyrics written by Petro Murianka, novel Bombel written by Mirostaw Nahacz, movie Cold War (Zimna wojna) directed by Paweł Pawlikowski or autobiographical notes titled Empty Forrest (Pusty las) published by Monika Sznajderman) lead to the conclusion that this teritory is an unique challenge for contemporary authors. That local homeland with a very difficult history (could even be named specific „desert island”) forces to face with problems of identity, strangerness and otherness.
