Summary/Abstract: This article offers a comprehensive reappraisal of the prayer Saint Michael the Archangel through biblical, patristic, philological, and liturgical lenses. After analysing the Latin text (imperatives, jussives, and key lexemes such as insidiae, praesidium, detrudere), the study confronts its narrative with the New Testament's proclamation of Christ's definitive victory and the conciliar Christology of Nicaea and Chalcedon. Patristic sources (Augustine, Chrysostom, Pseudo-Dionysius) are marshalled to clarify the strictly ministerial status of angels (cf. Hbr 1:14) and to exclude dualist readings. Historically, the paper situates the prayer within the "Leonine Prayers" and evaluates its post-Mass use in light of lex orandi, lex credendi and the sufficiency of the Eucharist. It concludes that, ex forma, the text risks eclipsing Christ's unique mediation and recommends either private devotion or an explicitly paschal, Christocentric redaction.
